Mascara – Tips
In order for the mascara to retain its properties for a long time, it must be properly stored and used correctly. Here are tips that will help you take care of mascara just as it takes care of your eyelashes every day.
Where to store mascaras?
It looks like a trivial question, but it can be a good introduction to the talk about the proper way of storing mascaras. Let’s start with where not to store them. Definitely not in the fridge because it will thicken. On the contrary, a place close to radiator or stove isn’t good either as the mascara becomes more liquid in form. It can be stored in the bathroom, although there the temperature changes often. For this reason it’s good to keep the mascara on the dressing table in the bedroom.
How to store mascaras?
Another important issue is how to keep mascaras to make it work as efficiently as possible. It turns out that it’s all about position. Not many women know that mascaras should be stored vertically – just like on the shelves at the chemist’s. In this way, the formula will not stick to just one wall of the container. The horizontal position is not recommended, however this has no direct effects on the properties of the formula itself.
How to keep mascaras from drying out?
Naturally, the formula changes over time. Most mascaras thicken, which in some cases is a positive effect according to the opinions that the cosmetic paints properly only a few weeks after opening. Generally, no mascara should be used or more than half a year. On average, they lose their properties after 4-5 months regardless of how often they were used.
Improperly stored or used mascara can dry faster than the expiration date indicates. It is worth remembering that you can unconsciously shorten the life of your cosmetic. In order to prevent it from happening:
- avoid pumping the wand in and out of the tube because in this way the air gets into the tube
- regularly clean the brush
